It’s amazing to me that we still have people that refer to our product as a “filter”. Nothing could be further from the truth and the differences make all the difference!!!
- Prolonged Boiling.
Every Health Department in the world will advise you to boil the water if it has microbiological contamination and pathogens. These are the little microbes that can give you an upset stomach, make you ill or even worse – including death with certain organisms (E-coli, cholera etc). The boiling inside a distiller will kill bacteria and other organisms.
- Phase Change.
When H2O is the form of water is boiled it reaches the temperature where the H2O changes from being a liquid to a vapor we call steam. At this point the H2O molecules lift away from the boiling water and the contaminants it contains. This process is very effective and leaves virtually all the contaminants in the boiling water.
- Build-in Air Gap.
When water changes to steam it has to rise a distance before it enters the condensing coil that collects the steam. This rise is critically important. It does not allow the contaminated boiling water to flow freely into the condenser, and thus the contaminants are kept apart from the steam which will be cooled in the condenser and converted to distilled water.
No other water purification process has these three features. That’s what makes distillation the ideal process for water purification regardless of the contaminants.
Filters and reverse osmosis are “barrier” purification systems. They operate only under pressure in water lines. If the barrier deteriorates, is ruptured or cracks they lose their effectiveness and can actually create water more serious contaminated than the feed water. Filters and reverse osmosis are not recommended by FEMA and The American Red Cross in the event of a water emergency. Distillers are.
So now you know. This is why we are so passionate about distillation.
