No doubt you have seen the graphic new accounts of the toxic sludge that overwhelmed several Hungarian towns after a reservoir of a holding pond at an aluminum processing plant ruptured. By accounts more than 188 million gallons of this toxic sludge let loose. Officials are now saying that additional releases are expected.
What is of great concern is not just the immediate damage from the deluge of the red sludge itself, but the potential harm from the high levels of dangerous heavy metals the sludge contained. Experts have estimated that 50 tons of arsenic, 300 tons of chrome and ½ ton of mercury were released. These are part of a group of metals know as “Heavy Metals”. The heavy metals group also includes lead, cobalt bismuth, cadmium, are typically toxic and many can enter the blood stream through inhalation, absorption through the skin and through ingestion of contaminated water. All these contaminants from the Hungarian spill will go somewhere – most likely into the water supplies that millions of people in several countries drink.
While the contaminants will become diluted they are still there. Ingestion of heavy metals is of a particular concern because some can accumulate in the body and the effects may not be obvious immediately. Some of the damage to the liver and brain may not be fully reversible. For more details see (http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C15891.html)
Fortunately, there is an inexpensive and effective way to eliminate heavy metals from the water – water distillation. The distillation process is very effective in eliminating heavy metals from the source water. This has been shown repeatedly in third party testing and is know by the authorities and water treatment experts: http://www.ianrpubs.unl.edu/epublic/live/g1493/build/g1493.pdf
There is now doubt that the residents of Hungary and neighboring countries affected by the toxic sludge should be using a distiller to obtain water free of heavy metals. Pure & Secure would like to be part of the solution.
