Our Story begins with a simple idea: Improving the Quality of Life by Improving the Quality of Water
For over 50 years, Pure Water (a division of Pure & Secure, LLC) has been a leading manufacturer of water distillers around the world. We produce water distillation systems for homes, offices, hospitals, labs, governments and more. But our work is so much more than just building machines.
“There’s something about distillation that is amazing,” said Al Meder, President of Pure & Secure, LLC. “Distillation seems to be truly effective against virtually all contaminants. We keep trying to find a situation where our distillation systems have limitations in the removal of contaminants. We don’t seem to find them.”
“When Lake Erie had its blue-green algae blooms, the water consumers in Toledo, Ohio were advised not to use the tap water for drinking, bathing, brushing teeth etc. Typically, with a biological contaminant a ‘boil-alert’ is issued encouraging citizens to boil the water before using, however in this case that was not advised. That was because the cyanotoxins in the water became more concentrated with boiling. Pure Water Distiller owners did not have to worry because the steam did not carry the algae or cyanotoxins with it, so when it formed pure distilled water droplets, it did not contain the toxins. We had a customer in the area send us some samples of the lake water containing the blue-green algae and we sent them to the Water Sciences Lab at the University of Nebraska to check the efficacy of our distiller in removal. They confirmed that the blue green algae and the cyanotoxins were not present in the product water.”
“When the city of Flint, Michigan was found to have very high levels of lead in their drinking water, we knew our distiller would produce distilled water free of lead. We confirmed that again with third-party testing.”
“And when the disaster at Fukushima, Japan resulted in high levels of radioactive water, we checked our Pure Water distiller through an independent testing laboratory. Again, we found the distiller virtually eliminated Cesium from the distilled drinking water. And the story goes on and on. Of course we are proud of our distillers!”
Pure Water & Peace of Mind
“How wonderful it is to provide mankind with pure water and peace of mind at the same time,” said Eldon ‘Dr. Water’ Muehling, who has worked at Pure & Secure for over 45 years.
Muehling collects what he calls “love letters” from customers whose lives have been transformed for the better thanks to their Pure Water distillers. From doctors, professional triathletes, cancer patients, and more – the letters have poured in over the years.
One person wrote in about their granddaughter who always spit up lots of baby formula every time she was fed, leaving the parents at wits end concerned about their newborn getting enough nutrition; that is, until they started making the formula with distilled water.
Multiple people sent letters proclaiming how much drinking distilled water helped with their kidney function or arthritis and gave their immune system a break from constantly fighting contaminants.
Customer Shirley May wrote “Since using distilled water for drinking and for all of my cooking (vegetables, soups, coffee, etc.) my symptoms are entirely relieved. I’m well.”
And some people just love the taste.
“I can’t thank you enough for introducing me to this outstanding piece of equipment. The benefits received from being on Pure Water are wonderful. The food and drinks, like coffee and tea, are just unbelievable, and the ice cubes are so clean and clear,” wrote customer Hershey Mason. “The best thing of all is having and knowing the water we are consuming is free of any contamination.”
Muehling takes pride knowing that he’s helped so many people avoid water contamination and the problems it can cause. Drinking distilled water is a no brainer, he says, but lots of people are unaware of how much it can help or else they have misconceptions about distilled water or the cost.
“Distilled water is the gold standard for water purity, precious but not expensive,” said Muehling.
The Process of Perfecting Purity
“We are purists. We believe that when we want to drink water, we just want water. If you have a filter or reverse osmosis they are a good first step, but in the end you should only be drinking the cleanest water, and that is distilled water,” said Paul Meder, Vice President of Technical Services, Research and Development.
This philosophy has driven decades of research and development at Pure & Secure. While many companies are still using distiller designs from over 50 years ago, we’ve worked hard to develop new ways to increase purity (like adding patented dual V.O.C. vents in our popular Mini Classic model), increase safety (like double cladding our boiling chambers so you won’t get burned), and increase energy efficiency (like reusing heat energy from steam in our C-630 model).
“Our distillers are based on a scientific process which we believe produces the purest and most healthful drinking water. No magic, miracles, gimmicks or tricks, just pure water – plain and simple,” said Paul Meder.
It’s not just an assumption: our water distillers have conquered every challenge.
“We have had third-party labs analyze our water, first by introducing extremely high levels of specific contaminants into the raw water, and then testing the resulting distilled water. Our distillation systems are highly efficient in removing contaminants,” said Paul Meder.
The result is over 99.9% removal of bacteria like bacillus subtilis, heavy metals like lead and arsenic, chemical contaminants like glyphosate, and even radioactive contaminants like uranium.

Why We Need Pure Water Now More Than Ever
Today, the world is overcome with water issues.
- Aging infrastructure causes issues like water main breaks and lead contamination.
- Climate change leads to more extreme weather – both flooding (which washes more contaminants into our water ways) and droughts (which lead to water scarcity and use of less safe sources).
