Everyone says we should drink more water, but what we all need is more pure water that is contaminant free. If you take a moment to search google for “water contamination news”, you will see more than 7 million results! Toxins spilling into water supplies, long term contamination and large disasters are actually the norm. Get a TDS meter and test your local water supply. Our tap water in Lincoln, Nebraska, varies but generally reads at over 300 TDS (Total Dissolved Solids). The problem is that we don’t know what those 300ppm are…no one really does. So, armed with that information, we’d like to discuss the 7 ways pure water will improve your health.
#7 Pure Water is better than sugary drinks.
Ok, this one is obvious. Water is better for you than sugary drinks, but why all the fuss? Drinking sugary drinks for kids or adults adds to an increase in daily sugar intake and daily caloric intake. High calorie diets are linked to a variety of health problems including obesity and diabetes. Instead of drinking soda or juice at every meal, switch to pure water. It is healthy, cleansing and satisfying. Sugary drinks often leave you feeling thirsty or it ends up spiking your blood sugar only to have to run back to the soda machine by midafternoon for another fix. Even diet drinks are thought of as unhealthy by many because of the added chemicals. Drinking soda all day is completely unnecessary and most agree it is not good for your health. Quitting sugary drinks is an easy, money saving, health saving idea and we’ve got your perfect substitute …pure water.
#6 Pure Water is better for your joints.
There are no studies on how distilled water can help those with joint pain or arthritis. We cannot make health claims because of this. We can only say that we’ve received a number of emails and letters indicating that it has reduced swelling and aches for many people. We encourage you to share distilled water with anyone you know who has any inflammatory illness and let them be the judge.
Most municipal water systems do not recommend drinking tap water if you fall into specific groups. The following is from our own hometown.
“Some people may be more vulnerable to contaminants in drinking water than the general population. This includes immuno-compromised persons such as those with cancer undergoing chemotherapy, those who have undergone organ transplants, people with HIV/AIDS or other immune systems disorders, some elderly people and infants.” (Lincoln Annual Drinking Water Quality Report – https://www.lincoln.ne.gov/city/pworks/water/pdf/water-quality-report.pdf?2015)
If you’d like to know more about water quality reports in your own area you can google it, email us or call us and we will help you find them.
#5 Pure Water is better for your teeth.
We all want our teeth to last for a long, long time. I think we can also agree that hanging out at the dentist’s office is not on our list of fun things to do. Drinking pure water is great for your teeth. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, fluoride in water needs to be reduced and researched more. Too much fluoride can cause neurological issues, weaken bones and ligaments, and muscle weakness. By drinking distilled water, you can decide if you want to use fluoride toothpaste, mouthwash, get fluoride treatments at the dentist’s office or use none at all.
“Just because we did studies over the last 70 years, it doesn’t mean that we did everything that is necessary to know for sure that fluoridation is not toxic to some processes in the body or development of the brain. Those studies have actually not been done,” said Grandjean, also head of the Research Unit at the University of Southern Denmark and author of Only One Chance: How Environmental Pollution Impairs Brain Development – and How to Protect the Brains of the Next Generation.” (Harvard School of Public Health https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/features/a-call-for-reducing-fluoride-levels-in-drinking-water/)
#4 Pure Water is better for aging.
Do you want to look good and feel good for your entire life? Pure water is an excellent start. Drinking plenty of water has always been recommended by doctors, but did you know how essential water is to aging well? Water is necessary for all of your body’s functions. Plenty of water will help your skin stay plump and may help you look younger than your years. Pure water is toxin free so it helps with digestion and plenty of water rids you of problems like constipation. Many have experienced reduced arthritis symptoms, as we’ve stated above, due to drinking distilled water. Perhaps most importantly, pure water is essential to your brain. Did you know that 35% of people with dementia actually die from dehydration? Make a point to drink plenty of distilled water to keep your mind in good health too. (The ‘natural’ endpoint of dementia: death from cachexia or dehydration following palliative care? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17022107)
#3 Pure Water is better for your brain.
Our bodies are ruled by the brain. Your brain needs clean water to function correctly. Contaminants can interfere with all of the wonderful processes that keep us running. Food and water are fuel. Think of all the stories recently about lead contamination. Lead can’t be removed from the body and it can cause brain damage, stunted growth, learning disabilities and much more. Fluoride is an endocrine disruptor. Long term exposure to chlorine can cause memory loss and impaired balance. Mercury can cause brain damage, headaches, weakness and rashes. Arsenic can lead to cancer. The list goes on and on. My point is that pure water does not have any of these toxins, so it makes sense that it’s safer and better for your brain.
#2 Pure Water is better for your endocrine system.
There are a number of contaminants that may or may not be in your tap water that can cause endocrine disruption. Some of these are known, others are not known. This is very alarming as the endocrine system is the collection of glands that produce hormones that regulate metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep, mood, as well as other things. According to the National Institute of Health, Chemicals that are known endocrine disruptors include diethylstilbestrol (the synthetic estrogen DES), dioxin and dioxin-like compounds, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), DDT, and some other pesticides.
“An NIEHS-funded group at the Dartmouth College Superfund Research Program discovered that arsenic can act as a potent endocrine disruptor. They have shown that arsenic profoundly affects the function of five steroid hormone receptors (the receptors for glucocorticoid, androgen, progesterone, mineralocorticoid, and estrogen hormones) as well as the function of related nuclear receptors for thyroid hormone and retinoic acid.” (Department of Health & Human Services http://www.hhs.gov/asl/testify/2010/02/t20100225a.html)
#1 Pure Water is better for your safety.
We’ve discussed a lot of contaminants above, but we haven’t touched on viruses or bacteria. For well owners, we can say that bacteria is often an issue, and even for people using tap water, there have been outbreaks that have caused illnesses and even deaths in the United States. Cryptosporidium, E. coli and Giardia are all common and can contaminate water. The problem is often times the public does not know about these outbreaks until it’s too late. Thankfully, Pure Water distillers remove all of these things and distilled water keeps your entire family safe regardless of what is going on in your area.

How do you justify, as it takes out minerals from your body?
jimblakley says
this is a falsehood. Distilled water is not removing minerals from your body. This takes a bit of science to explain so if you need more information, please feel free to call us to go over it. A human cell inside the body is surrounded by water with potassium and sodium. this keeps it in perfect balance with the pressure on the inside of the cell. Your kidney’s job is to keep the right amount of potassium and sodium in the fluids throughout your body to keep you in this balance. When you surround a cell with distilled water, the pressure on the inside of the cell is greater and minerals leave the cell to keep balance on the inside and outside of the cell wall. But, there is no such thing as distilled water inside the body. When you drink it, it mixes with your saliva, goes into your stomach where it mixes with your stomach acid and everything else you have eaten and drank. From there it moves into the rest of your body where your kidneys do their job to keep you in balance. By drinking distilled water, you are providing exactly what your body needs, water. You are also stopping your kidneys from having to filter out all of the other contaminants that are in water that our bodies can’t use.
